I'd be interested too, to know more about the paleo carbs. I posted a
query to Google's sci.bio.evolution: http://groups.google.com/groups?
hl=en&group=sci.bio.evolution on 3 November. Yes, we know they were tubers
and yams, but those two terms cover a multitude of foods (esp the potato)
which were not growing in Africa during the Pliocene. So, what was? Where
can I try them?

Rob Faigin, on his site, http://www.extique.com/askrob0-2.htm#0-2-5 is not
too concerned about the foods being paleo. What he does want to avoid is
the eating of animal fats and animal proteins during the carb load. Thus,
for an NHE diet (not limited to Paleolithic foods), a bowl of cereal would
be OK, but only
if it was moistened with soy drink, fruit juice or water -
not with milk. On my NHE carb load days (one coming up this evening), I
consume only water after lunch then in the evening I have a bowl of one-
third wild rice (the black stuff), one-third whole-grain rice, and one-
third the lowest sugar/lowest protein breakfast cereal. To this I add some
glace ginger and raisins or muscatels (not sultanas) and moisten it with
low-sugar soy drink. I finish the meal with a fresh apple and a fresh
mango, giving myself a total of 170 - 200 grams of digestible carbs.

This is tentative and an experiment on my part - any comments? (I expect
to continue with the NHE eating plan till I implement whatever it is that
Loren Cordain has to offer in his forthcoming book. I intend to use that
book to guide me back into meat eating after 27 years a vegetarian (with
excellent health, 10% body fat, 375lb dead lifts etc
 at 52 years of age)

Keith
