Gretchen is home now because she checked herself out of the drug rehab
program sometime last Sunday. She came home today, Tuesday, so you can
guess where she was for the last 48 hours or so. I was disappointed but not
so surprised. I was hoping this would be the place she would take a stand
in her life, if for no other reason, for the sake of her children. Now she
will go before the diversionary board and this board will decide if she can
be allowed to try the rehab center again or if she goes to jail, that is,
prison. She cannot return to the court and go before a judge because she
signed a document saying she would no longer have access to the court system
until her sentence was carried out. In this case, it was a two year
diversionary program she had to fulfill or be remanded to prison to serve a
term from 5 to 10 years. I believe the actual prison time may possibly be
set by a judge who reviews her status but that is more of a guess. Why did
she leave the program? Well, Gretchen has very bad teeth due to the drug
usage. She has lots of pain when not high on drugs and she claims they
would not get her help from a dentist. We have since checked with the
Salvation Army program and they said that is false. They said they have to
provide for their medical needs when they are in their care. Gretchen most
likely just needed a fix and used her teeth as an excuse. Plus, she has
already lied about the whole thing more than once today. So it is back to
square one and this time, of course, it may very well be cell block number
one instead of square one. I don't know how I feel about having a daughter
in prison but I am old enough to process it, if and when, it comes. The
little boys, however, are not old enough to process something that big so I
thank the Lord we are in their lives and can help them through something
that difficult. I'm about ready to kick the devil in the teeth though.

Phil.
