Doris,

We have a collection and each one of the 5 dogs are totally different.  They 
are all really tiny as pups; so small, it makes you think they will never 
get big enough to lift their head over the water bowl to get a drink but 
they all grow.  Sammy, short for Samuel, has silky slick long hair than 
hangs to about 1 inch in length and he is the tallest of the miniatures. 
Cody is the smallest and he has short hair that lays flat and is smooth when 
you pet him.  Sammy and Codey are half brothers.  Zippy is the standard size 
dog at 16 to 17 pounds with short hair and is by far the largest of the 
whole group.  Austin has short hair but longer than Cody's and it feels like 
straw, or hay, that is laying down when you pet him.  He loves to get on 
your lap and bite your nose and ears.  Tebow, named after the Christian 
football player here in the states, pronounced Tea Bow, is longer than the 
rest and has fuzzy hair.  He and Austin are brothers.  Tebow was so small 
and tiny when we got him, along with his brother Austin, we never dreamed 
he'd grow to be the second largest of the group but he out grew his brother. 
Tebow has a very unusual swirl to his various shades of brown and he cost 
more money than his brother because it is a rare pattern the not many 
miniature dachshunds ever have.  Tebow is very easy going and very much a 
lap dog but he plays, too, mostly with his brother.  To me, Tebow almost 
feels like a cat.  I told Sandy, if his ears didn't hang down but stood up 
and were pointed, he'd be a cat instead of a dog, haha.  They all our shades 
of brown from dark to light.  We don't have to buy cars for our kids to 
drive any more, pay for car insurance, we don't go to movies, and we don't 
spend money on a lot of things we used to so the dogs are the enjoyment we 
have; watching them grow, play, and even taking naps on our lap when they 
get tired.  When we went to a doctor's appointment the other day, we got out 
of the car and walked to the building.  We heard several small dogs barking 
so I asked my son where and what they were,  He said a car was parked near 
where we were walking, with the windows down a couple of inches, and there 
were 5 small dachshunds all in the car barking at people who went by.  Our 
doctor likes dachshunds, too, and he told us to bring our little dogs in 
some day for him to see.
