Not a whole lot has changed with Larry Fonton for those of you who knew of
him. About a week ago or more, they began taking the ventilator off for up
to 12 hours in a day. He was not responding to anyone's voice and his brain
waves were still very low. They are thinking there was a period of time he
wasn't getting enough oxygen. Anyhow, they put a device on his trachea
tube, or something, which generated sound that allowed him to speak a few
words. After about three questions, however, he stops responding. So, at
this point, it is very difficult to decide which way he is going to go. He
cannot live at home in this condition; that's for sure.
