Subject: The Fear Of Demons Part 2

>
>
> I have a friend who worshipped a well known female rock star during his teen years but he started his mind love affair when he was even younger. He collected her pictures and magazines and posters and he constructed a shrine like place in one corner of his room where he literally worshiped her image. He went to one of her local concerts when she was in town and wrote his phone number on a piece of paper and threw it up on the stage and hoped and prayed she would call him. No, she never did.
>
> One day, looking at his shrine and the young woman's picture, a female voice spoke to him and said she admired young men who had her picture in their rooms and worshipped her. It took him awhile but eventually, he began to believe the female voice in his head was really her.
>
> In his later teen years, as he walked to a place where he worked part time, he walked passed a Vineyard Charismatic church. She told him never to go in there so he didn't. Things soon took a quite evil and sinister turn. He realized the female voice wasn't really the rock star and challenged the voice. The voice went evil and rough and threatening and told him he was right; he, the demon, was in control of his life now and he'd never let him go.
>
> One day, as my friend walked passed the church I mentioned, he turned and ran for his life straight into the church; the voice screaming "No, no, no. Get back!" The people in the church had a deliverance ministry and he got some help and became very active in this church. He confessed to me one day that the demon never left him except for short periods of time when they prayed but every time he felt free, he would walk home and the second he walked into the bed room the demon would speak to him and say, "I have not left and never will. I own you," and many other such things. His parents took him to many therapists and psychiatrists in the area and he was committed more than once for several weeks. He always got some relief but it never remained. So what was the problem? Why couldn't the church deliverance team , if they were called to this type of ministry and anointed, make the demons leave and stay away?

> The Bible clearly states, Christians can be influenced by demons. Not possessed but influenced. This influence is through the gateway of the mind, thus, First Corinthians 10:3-6 which reminds us to pull down strongholds and take every thought captive. Evidently, if a Christian doesn't do this, take every thought captive, it is possible for the Enemy to influence our thoughts. Hence, we have a responsibility to be guarded; part of the ministry of the Holy Spirit. This, of course, is another good reason to know the Scriptures and to be Spirit filled. Ephesians 4:27 warns us not to give place to the Devil. Apparently, it is possible, therefore, for a Christian to give place to the Enemy. The word used by the King James translators for the term "place," means exactly that; give place, give room, give license etc. It would be like giving a small coat closet in a huge mansion little attention because in your mind, such a small place doesn't mean much and isn't used much. James 4:7 reminds us to resist the Devil. Apparently, if we don't resist him, he can use this against us and to his advantage and make a room, take a place, or believe he has license to move in, sort of speak, and begin tampering with your life and relationship with God. This is generally attempted when we are unawares due to circumstances beyond our control. So what is the Enemy really trying to do?
>
> All demonic influence has one purpose and that's to control. This control can be at various levels, too. It normally begins at the thought level because demons can bring their influence to bear by words by simply implanting a thought in the flow of our consciousness. Interestingly enough, we hear God's voice the same way, through His word and His voice confirms the thoughts by the engrafted word; (See James 1:21).
>
> I am not going to detail various levels of demonic influence in this post because I've written extensively about this subject on my website. Suffice it to say, the mind is where it is at and I am not referring to the power of positive thinking either. Does thinking just positive thoughts work? Of course because you are thinking good thoughts but this won't keep demons at arm's length for very long, if at all. Additionally, you can feel rotten, broken down, busted, guilty, and ashamed but the joy of the Lord can still be in your personage and as I mentioned, the implanted, or engrafted word, can save your soul according to James 1:21. (Note: James is not referring to the salvitic born again experience in his explanation.) James is referring to a reversal of ones thought life but we'll talk about that in detail another time.
>
> My point is, we need to guard our minds since it is the gateway, or the door, to the rest of our persona. Demonic influence is directly proportional to the level of influence we allow. Someone is saying, about this time, but I don't even know where those thoughts and feelings are or how they got there in the first place. This is called the deceitfulness of sin and it is the most powerful tool Satan has in fooling us to believe a lie. The key word is "lie" because believing lies is the avenue the Enemy uses to gain a foothold, or takes room, in our lives. By the way, on the front page of my website, you will fine a free e-book called "The Deceitfulness of Sin." It goes into great detail about how lies and the deceitfulness of sin is used by the Enemy.
