Subject: Andy Update for Wednesday/Thursday
Date: Wed, 3 May 2006 18:33:33 -0500

I haven't talked to my ex-sister-in-law, otherwise known as Andy's
mom, or my nephew's fiance today yet, but yesterday he was up more due
to folks wanting to visit. the nurse said that with many visits, he
becomes more agitated, or aware of his pain, and then more pain meds need
be given, and then he doesn't breathe on his own properly and the many
visits will buy him a tracheotomy. so they were nice but pointed to not
make frequent or long visits. That being said the nurse said he is doing
very well. I don't know if I mentioned it but he knows who he is, knows he
was in an accident because that's what he was told. He remember's his
nurse's name. Today he should have been given the opportunity to have some
broth and baby-like food. they were also removing some of his I V tubes.
so he must indeed be getting stronger. My ex-sis-in-law said one of the
officers who responded to Andy's accident called her to see how he was
doing. She told him of the progress and he just said that it was
unbelievable. He told her he didn't want to depress her but the emergency
folks at the scene of the accident didn't think he would make it to the
local hospital let alone the trip to Green Bay, WI via helicopter or at
the longest through the night. he was just flabbergasted. Also a woman my
father-in-law knows just happened to drive by the accident while my nephew
was laid out on the roadside. She figured him for dead and was surprised
to learn of his recovering condition as well. So hopefully all these folks
can see god at work. I'll keep yawl posted as there is news.
