The bottom line is, your parents loved you enough to try and do something.
Abuse?  Not really.  The lies you believe, on the other hand, are getting in
the way of your life and relationship with the Lord.  Those types of
experiences just add fuel to the fire.  There are lies that just need to be
cleared up is all.  Jesus knows how to do that very well.  You did the right
think by bringing it up because that is what echurch is all about.
