Subject: TV Listings

ACCESSSIBLE TV LISTINGS EXPERIMENT NOW BEING CONDUCTED tv-now.com has been
offering listings of tv programs free-of-charge to

blind users for several years but the software needed to access the lists

was very conplex to use. Currently, tv-now.com is providing a daily tv

schedule in a text format which can be read on-line or downloaded to your

favorite word processor and read off-line. tv-now.com also offers a

listing for the whole month of programs that contain the audio

descriptions (DVS).

For those of us who have tried to read print tv listings this access is

particularly important.

Here are the links to access the various things.

To read the list of DVS programs for a given day, go to:
<http://www.tv-now.com/dvs> http://www.tv-now.com/dvs There you will find a
separate link for each day of the month. Follow that

link to read the scheduled dvs programs for that day.

To read or download a whole day's tv listings go to:
<http://www.tv-now.com/dvs/sunday.txt> http://www.tv-now.com/dvs/sunday.txt

This link will show you the entire text for Sunday. The file contains the

show or movie titles, episode title if any, channel, time, director and

stars for the movies, and a description if there is one.

The days's file is also broken into six-hour increments. To access these

go to:

 <http://www.tv-now.com/dvs/sunday1.txt>
http://www.tv-now.com/dvs/sunday1.txt

 <http://www.tv-now.com/dvs/sunday2.txt>
http://www.tv-now.com/dvs/sunday2.txt

 <http://www.tv-now.com/dvs/sunday3.txt>
http://www.tv-now.com/dvs/sunday3.txt and

 <http://www.tv-now.com/dvs/sunday4.txt>
http://www.tv-now.com/dvs/sunday4.txt

Tony, the operator of tv-now would like to have your comments and

suggestions. Email him at

Note the dash between tv and now. Also note that because of the

experimental nature of the project at this time, these listings cannot be

accessed from the main site.

Once you write to Tony, you can receive a daily brief email with the links

for that day's lists, e.g. monday.txt, tuesday.txt etc., or you can just

go online and find them as described above.

None of the other tv listings on-line have even come close to satisfying

the needs of blind or partially sighted users. This could be a real

breakthrough and it is and will continue to be free-of-charge. Thanks for

reading this. Check it out. You will love it.
