Hi!

I want to explain something here. After the story, there is a line about a
hand to hold, etc. That is a signature of this message, not a part of the
story, as far as I know.

~ A Note on the Door ~
I stopped to knock upon her door
And found the words she wrote,
The lonely words were scrawled
Across the saddest little note.
"Please come in, it's lonely here,
So lonely since you've gone..."
The words were written childishly,
Though she was ninety-one.
That little piece of paper
Taped upon her door,
Reminded me implicitly
What we are all here for.
So every day, I go and knock
And stay with her awhile,
I sit a spell and listen well,
And relish her sweet smile.
Who she had in mind that day,
I'll never really know
But I feel blessed, just to come
And watch our friendship grow.

Heroes of the Heart
This poem was inspired by the following story. I feel it holds a sad
reflection of how elderly people become isolated from the rest of the
world.
We will all one day walk in the same shoes for one day we
will grow old and can only hope that there are people in our circle like
Sharon that will share our day.
Yesterday, while on my mail route I went to deliver a package to a
little lady's house. When I reached the door to knock she had taped a
little note there. It read, "Please come on in it is so lonesome since
everyone has quit coming..."
Sharon has a wonderful new friend and has reached out to include all of
us in this special meeting teaching us to stop and listen. Life teaches
us many things.

Sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to
understand.
