What do I think?  You said it!  The Message is a paraphrase.  to put it 
another way, it is what a person thinks or their interpretation of what they 
think the word of God says. The same thing is true of the NIV, TNIV (even 
worse), et cetera. I would suggest you try and stick with translations 
rather than paraphrases.  The New King James Version, the New American 
Standard Version, the Net or New English Translation are better options. 
There are more translations you can choose from, and if the KJV is not 
preferred, stick with a translation.  Let the Holy Spirit help you digest 
the Word and stay away from partially digested translations. On the other 
hand, maybe the JW's could get you one of their versions. GRIN (NO! I didn't 
say that!)
