I don't think the Master Jesus healed simply for physical reasons.  I think
he healed because the only occupation for those who were disabled was
begging, and though one could make a pretty good living from begging, and
the religion required beggars be given alms, it was still rather demeaning
for the beggar.  Orthodox jewery prohibited disabled people from ever being
given the responsibilities of adulthood.  They were forbidden from marrying
and entering in to contracts ETC.  I think he healed them in order that they
might work and live as full and complete citizens in the communities in
which they lived.  We don't have to beg in this society, neither do we have
to live as children till we die.  The times are considerably different.  Our
Lord and Lady do perform miracles but not merely because we ask them to do
so.  They have their own agendas and all we can do is to ask how the glory
of God can be fulfilled by being blind or otherwise disabled.  We can always
remember God never gives us more to handle than we are able and if we think
we can't handle whatever situation which we are faced with we just aren't
aware how strong we are. I know I have learned a great deal from watching my
husband with his Alzheimer's.  He often cries and talks of how no one loves
or wants him, and of how alone he feels.  I know this is not true because
his family does love and want him and he is not alone as we are always there
to watch over him and protect him.  The point is he doesn't know this.  This
shows me that when I feel alone, unloved and unwanted I am not though I
might feel thus.  My husband has shown me we are never alone even when we
are at our darkest moments.  This is a profound lesson.  There are those who
never learn this, and go through life thinking God has abandoned them.
