Hi again folks!

Today I went to the follow-up appointment at the surgeon's office.  the 
nurse examined the site, and said I'm doing very well.  She was able to take 
some of the stitches out, but she said that those that are left will 
dissolve.  She instructed me to put a cotton ball in my ear to keep it dry 
while I wash my hair (Finally I get to really wash my hair!), and to put an 
antibiotic salve on a place that has opened up.

Judy picked me up at Day Treatment, and, on the way, she gave me the things 
that I was given after surgery:  the processors, and I don't know what went 
with them, if anything, and a stuffed animal, sort of like a koala bear, 
that the Cochlear Corporation company hands out.  It has its name on it, and 
a piece of velcro behind its ear. (I don't know what would stick to it yet.) 
I decided that it's a male, and named him Victor.  Those on this list named 
Vicki, just be glad I didn't name "her" Vicki! Haha!  While waiting, which 
took quite a while, we talked with a lady whose baby son is deaf and getting 
the implant tomorrow!  It was fun telling her how it goes and about the 
things that can happen.  She told us about a language that combines some 
signing and lip movement, so that deaf people are more aware of what sound 
is like.  Interesting!  When all is said and done, I want to be put on a 
list for anyone who needs information and support for their journey to 
better hearing.

Tomorrow I go back to Elks to work with Jenna on becoming familiar with the 
processors, and the accessories I think she'll give me.  She said there is a 
big box of things to study before the big day.

I wish I were getting the activation during this Christmas season, so I can 
sing:

So I can hear you say, "Merry Chrissstmasss!

(For those who can't tell, I added some extra "S" letters, to celebrate the 
high pitches, including the sizzle of the "S," that I haven't heard in 
years.)
