Here in the UK; long gone are the crocus, the snow drop and even the daffodil. Yet as the seasonal calendar unfolds, other flowers, shrubs & trees come into bloom to reveal their full part - their glory.

Recently here on BBC TV the UK viewer has been able to watch the spectacular garden festival 'The Chelsea Garden Show.' Featuring many splendid specimens of flower which for most of us, we could only dream of growing.

My wife is the gardener at our home. miles away from the Chelsea Garden Show, but we find pleasure and delight in our corner of the English country garden.

Currently in our garden; tulips stand to attention, rather like soldiers portraying their regal colours of red, purple and black. The black prince my favourite.

In window boxes, we have the iris, in closed bud a simple pale blue - but when fully displayed revealing a splendour of darker blue enhanced with a touch of warm orange.

The shrubs too, so many and with so many unpronounceable names, all are beginning to bring high lights and focus to different parts of our garden. All have their part to play.

However, standing almost like a giant, it's branches causing shadows as the sun travels from east to west - is the monkey puzzle tree.

Always the centre of attention, always noticed by others, always, always, always!

Our monkey puzzle tree stands magnificent in all its grandeur.

Strange isn't it, for things and people in life can almost be like that.

Not content with just being the winter pansy or snow drop bringing beauty to the foreground, offset to everyone's focus & vision. For some of us, oh to be just like the monkey puzzle tree or even the tulip soldiers standing to attention!

Don't misunderstand me, there's nothing wrong with aiming high - reaching for those goals. No, but quite often in life have you noticed that the competition tends to overshadow who or what we are. Come to think of it, many times we can be driven by selfish ambition instead of God's desire for our lives.

Do you know? Each and everyone of us has our part to play. Not always in full array of everyone's vision, but at times quietly, gently almost unnoticed. Each and everyone of us has a purpose to fulfil.

You are special.

Did you know that God's word declares that He rejoices over you. In fact God delights in you. He loves you.

Are you feeling offset to the bigger picture today, then realise your place and know that God loves you.

So dear friend, be content today in the position where God has placed you and realise that as you let the love of Jesus shine through, God's glory is revealed.

The Apostle Paul writes...

....'I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.'.

 Phil. 4;11b NIV
