Brad,

That's a great testimony for your old pastor in Texas. Not many big church
pastors like that. As a Baptist, Jack Hyles was one of my favorite Baptist
preachers. He traveled every week to Sword of the Lord conferences which
John R Rice conducted. Sword conferences were generally Sunday through
Wednesdays and Jack would fly in, preach three and four and five times
Monday and then again on Tuesday and fly home. Other guest speakers
preached on the other days along with John R Rice. Plus, Jack Hyles
preached all over the United States at conferences, special meetings, and
all sorts of things. Jack and John are both dead now but they were some
preachers. Jack, however, just died a couple of years ago. He pastored a
church of over 100,000 people and they would have pushes and would go over
130,000 at times. Yet, Hyles said he never ever missed a Sunday morning,
Sunday night, or Wednesday night or a Thursday. thursday was their soul
winning day and he never missed going out. He would take the red eye
flights all the time just to get back to preach in his own church every
single service. He was one of the greatest soul winners I ever heard of
except for a friend of mine who lives in Montana now. Man, in his 50 years
plus of ministry, that guy led people to Christ like the rapture was
tomorrow or something. Anyhow, Hyles pastored in Hammond, Indiana just
outside of Chicago.

Phil.
