Yes, dogs do know.  Flurrie alerts me when my sugar is too low by pushing me 
around with her muzzle and being disobedient when she is usually very 
obedient while in harness.  They do know.  My little dachshund knew when he 
was being put down.  He rested in my arms, head on my shoulder and let the 
doc give him the shot.  His hind quarters had given way and he was in 
extreme pain.  I dearly love dogs and Dave has a pretty dog who is part 
German Shepherd and part Husky.  She is starting to get used to me and plays 
with Flurrie under durress.  *Grin*  Flurrie thinks she can play with Babe 
like she did with Caleb and Stryker, but it just doesn't work that way. 
Anyway, dogs know.  They know more than we give them credit for knowing.
