I am a Concerned American Voting Citizen

By Phil Scovell

I followed the primaries this time more than I ever have
before and I am a Ronald Reagan conservative. I may even be more
conservative than he was but he likely will be the greatest
president in my lifetime. Now, fast forward to the present day.

As I write this, a man of mixed race, who prefers being
addressed as an afro American, even when he is half white and half
black, has been elected to be the president of the United States.
No, I did not vote for him nor could I. I am not a political
socialist, I do not believe in any form of Marxism, Leninism,
Maoism, Communism, and most other isms, come to think of it, that
fall outside the political scheme of open and free capitalistic
governments which are representative republics. I also have a
strong affinity for religious freedom, freedom of speech, that is,
the first amendment, gun ownership, the second amendment, and I
could go on and on so I'll stop with the amendments at this point
and just say, I am a constitutionalist. No, I don't believe it is
an inspired document, as the Bible being the Word of God, but I do
believe God ordained the penning of the constitution and
furthermore, I believe He ordained the creation of this country
and its government. I am also what some call pro life, or more
specifically, anti abortion. I am the father of a daughter, who
has two fine children, but who, to my knowledge, has had at least
one abortion. We, her father and mother, learned about it after
the fact. She was an adult, married, and living away from home at
the time she made her decision. No, I couldn't have stopped her
at the time even if I had known of it because she was an adult. I
could, of course, talk about what I believe, and don't believe,
politically, page after page but I won't. Needless to say, I
cannot, nor will I ever, vote for anyone who believes abortion
isn't the killing of the innocent. If you are not a Bible
believing, born again Christian, you may not understand why I said
what I just stated but I can't help it if you are unable to meet
me half way and accept me as a free American citizen who has the
right to vote.

After it was officially announced our new president elect
was Barak Obama, I was greatly disappointed for all of the reason
mentioned above and more. On the other hand, I have two adopted
grandchildren of mixed races. I don't ever think of them more
black than Mexican or more Mexican than American Indian, or more
American Indian than black. I trust you get my drift. It doesn't
matter, in other words, to me. I do care if you cannot prove,
when you are running for office in this country, if you are an
American citizen, American born, in order to fulfill the
constitutional requirements of the United states. Yes, I even
care if you live in this country illegally. I do care about the
other issues I personally believe in as both an American but most
importantly, as a born again Christian. With all this said, let
me also tell you how I felt after the election.

I felt proud to be an American. The system still works. I
was proud to live in a country, where in my lifetime, a black man
could be elected as the president in a free election by the
people. I also thought, since I was alive when Martin Luther King
Junior was shot and killed, how I wished he had been able to
witness how far we have come since his famous, "I Have A Dream,"
speech which is still just as inspirational to me today as it was
so many decades ago. I also felt the need to pray for this new
president probably more than any president I have ever prayed for
in my 56 years of life. With that in mind, we all should pray for
our country more than we ever have because I believe Jesus is
coming in my lifetime and perhaps much sooner than we think. I
personally plan on seeing Him for myself when He comes because of
the promise I quote below.

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,
that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world
knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet
appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear,
we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
