Alan,

I checked their web site, but couldn't find any pricing. Do you have any
idea what it will cost?

This spring, Sony will be launching the "Sony Reader." I have not seen it
yet, but if the promo materials are to be believed, this device has
tremendous potential for people who have difficulties handling paper, who
have certain forms of low-vision, and certain learning disabilities.

STORAGE: About 80 electronic books. The device can accommodate a memory
stick and Secure Digital (SD) card slot to add even more content.

DISPLAY: About six inches diagonally. Its high-resolution font looks like
real ink on white paper, with no flicker. The promotional materials state
that the screen is legible in sunlight.

SIZE: 6.9" by 4.9" by 0.5" (about the size of a paperback novel)

WEIGHT: Less than 9 ounces.

OTHER FEATURES: Flip pages by pushing a button. Text can be magnified to
200%. Electronic bookmark. The device also displays Adobe PDF,
black-and-white JPEG, and Web content such as blogs or news feeds.

POWER: Rechargeable battery lasts up to 7500 page turns. Recharges in about
four hours via AC adapter.

(Wouldn't it be great if Sony ships this new product with features such as
reverse-video, user-defined styles, speech output, and search functions?)
