Thank you again for all the great info. I got a couple more responses and wanted to summarize them.

  Here is Summary No. 3:

You will do fine on the ship. Try to stick to eating
all meals possible in
the dining room instead of the buffet. Be very
cautious with your table
servers. Some are more knowledgeable than others. I
always order oil and
vinegar for the salad dressing, not knowing what is in
the other ones
offered. The day before you go off board and spend the
day touring, ask the
dining room supervisor for help to make a turkey and
cheese sandwich, cut up
fruit, etc. Eat it on the bus, not in a restaurant
where you may stop.
Nobody will bother you. I also bring my homemade bread
from home and
homemade muffins in ziplock bags, and keep them in the
refrigerator in my
stateroom. You can use them as needed. Be SURE to
have a letter from your
family physician in your carry on luggage that has
your food in it. The
airport security will respect your needs with the
letter. I just returned
from out 19th cruise, and have only had problems if I
sometimes eat in the
buffet. The buffet food is ok, but becomes
cross-contaminated by the
passengers using the spoons , and changing them to
other dishes.
As for Barcelona, many local restaurants specialize in
Rotisserie chicken.
We stayed at the Hotel Apart. Silver. It was located
around the corner from
a restaurant called "The Inn of the Priests," - the
name is something like
that. We ordered rotesserie chicken, salad and
vegetables. It was a safe
meal. Last thought - bring Immodium with you. Eat
all the plain, non-fat
yogurt you can find as breakfast. That way, if you
get symptoms, your day
won't be spoiled. Hope this helps.

This is just a quick response to those who are writing
about taking nuts and
various gluten-free foods like veggies and fruits to
Ireland or France or
????? Obviously you cannot always know much about
the foods that will be
available on a Cruise ship or in a train dining car,
but if you are planning
to travel in Ireland or England or Scandanavia or
Italy or....... give
yourself the added pleasure of going to local grocery
stores and buying
fruits, vegetables and nuts, as well as meats and fish
and other things you
can't even imagine until you are there. That's half
the fun of travel. If
you want something even more fun, take time to go to a
foreign hardward
store. Bon Voyage
  *****
THANKS AGAIN TO ALL WHO REPLIED.
  Denise
