Thank you to the many who had ideas for my search for a calcium supplement
that is not as large as the Freeda calcium pills I am now taking.

Viactiv Chews was definately the winner. They are available in many grocery
and drugstores. Each chew has 20 calories and also includes Vitamins D and K.

Thank you to Ruth, a dietician, who suggested that 1 chew be taken after
2 of 3 meals. She also provided the reminders that calcium shoud never be
taken with other minerals like zinc or iron and that coffee, large amounts of
fiber, and tanic acid in tea decrease the absorption of calcium. Taking
calcium with dairy products and Vitamin C increases the absorption. Ruth
suggested that there are other chewables, but make sure Vitamin D is included.

Other products suggested:
2- Vitamin World (www.vitaminworld.com) for chewables
2- GNC brand
Puritan's Pride High Potency Calcium Supplement +D (1 800-645-1030)
Citracel
Kirkland Calcium, available at Cosco
New Vision Calcium(no number listed)
Thompson's Cal-Mag-Zinc
Vitamin Shoppe"s Calcium Citrate Plus(Magnesium and D)
Animal Parade-children's chewables
Freeda's Calcium Gluconate Powder

Two other suggestions:
Several people recommended getting a pill cutter.

One suggestion was made to crush supplements up and include in things like
homemade bread.

Thanks again for your help...Shelley
