I've been saving bits of bread and the smashed crackers from the bottom
of the bag, and adapted this Tightwad Gazette recipe to use them up.
It's almost like a mock oatmeal cookie.

1.25c four flour bean mix
1.25c sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder (or 1/4tsp each soda and cream of tartar)
1/3c cocoa (carob powder works)
1/2c milk (darifree works)
1 egg (I didn't try a substitute)
1.5 tsp vanilla extract
2/3c melted shortening (original recipe specifies that half may be
replaced
w/applesauce, but
I didn't try it)
2c. bread crumbs

Mix first five dry ingredients and then beat in milk, egg, and vanilla.
Stir in shortening and then the crumbs. Drop by closely spaced
tablespoons (Pampered Chef small scoop is perfect) on an ungreased pan
and bake 15 minutes at 350F. Remove immediately with a thin spatula.
