Dear Group,

Thank you for everyone help when I first signed on two years ago. My
symptoms of gluten intolerance caused me to be left with chronic
pancreatitis. With the help of the pancratitis chat list I found a
pancreatic specialist outside of Boston. The pancreatitis chat list is a bit
scary as many of them are much sicker than I am. I am controling my
pancratitis with Ultram, and a zero fat diet as best I can. I would be
hospitalized for sure if I had not finally found what was causing my
sphincters to spasm closed and what had cause my gall bladder to fail working
and to cause rapid gastric emptying. I have a SEVERE autoimmunity to wheat.
I have a gluten disorder that probably is what left me with pancreatitis. I
do not test possitive for gluten disorder-but that doesnt mean a thing so I
learned -only about half the people who have it will test possitive on any
test so far invented. Which I learned quickly reading this list. As long
as I am off gluten-I am not too bad, but I still have pain.
I am writing today because I want to ask if any of you would like to share
your story with the public. I am doing a TV show with my husband, Dr
Mehl-Madrona about health alternatives. He is a physician who is well known
in the alternative medicine circle. I want to present other cases besides my
own of people who have chronic illness who were misdiagnosed for years, told
it was in their head, and dismissed and/or called a drug seeker. All of
these things were done to me (for 8 years) before we found someone to help
me-and I am married to a physician-who is not just a quack interested in
alternatives-but an Emergency Room physician. I would only read your story
on our TV show about chronic illness, using a first name or anonymous. I
think getting the stories out there will help people to realize how badly
chronically ill people are treated. Please respond to my email as I am afraid
I might miss your response if it goes only to the list-with all the posts
daily. Thanks. [log in to unmask]
I was especially moved when a young man recently said that his doctor
found nothing wrong so he wouldnt give him pain meds, and he was considering
suicide at times because of the pain and being so scared it would get worse-
Bless you all in your struggle to be healthy.
Yours sincerely,
Morgaine
