I also just returned from New Orleans. It's expensive, but I do highly
recommend Commander's Palace, which is a Brennan family restaurant and the
place Emeril got his start. The kitchen knows exactly what's required for a
GF meal and that first bite of food justifies the extra expense.

I am now completely confused, however, about the Acme Oyster House. Like
Theresa, I had heard here that it used cornmeal only and was GF. Unlike
Theresa, I asked about it. The waitress told me that while they did use
cornmeal breading, it also contained some regular flour. She told me I
absolutely should not eat it. I had the raw oysters. I assume that Theresa
had no reaction (since she went 3 times) so either she is not sensitive or my
waitress was mistaken.

BTW, if you want to have good New Orleans food but don't want to pay those
high prices, you need to find a way to search out the places the locals go.
For starters, get out of the French Quarter and go somewhere like Magazine
Street or near the lake.

Cheers
Richard
