Hi,

I'm newly diagnosed with CD and am going out of town overnight for the first
time this weekend. I'm not having much trouble eating at home, but I'm a
little worried about going away. I'll be at a relative's home and attending
a big catered party (probably not much that I can eat). Especially given
that it's a big affair with many people, I don't expect anyone to give much
thought to my dietary needs. I'll be pretty much on my own. I'm bringing
some snacks but am hoping some of you veterans can offer advice to a newbie
about traveling, what to bring and how to handle being in someone else's
home -- getting enough to eat without eating on the sly or being rude! I'm
finding that many people don't understand just how insidious gluten is, I
don't want to appear finicky when I'm not sure that the food is safe. Thanks
for any advice you can give. Jackie in Connecticut
