Hi. I have celiac disease and so am on a gluten free diet. When I had my youngest daughter, given the high chance she too would have celiac and wanting to avoid potential problems during the early years when her body and brain were rapidly developing and growing, I have not introduced her to gluten. Of course, I have seen more recent studies saying that perhaps I should have done this when she was 4-6 months old, but it is too late for that now. She turned three last week and I am trying to determine the best time to introduce gluten. My big fear is that she will love these new foods and then we will learn she is celiac and then I will have to restrict her diet again--this time with her knowing what she is missing. Now, it is really a way of life and she knows no different. However, since there is a chance that she may not be celiac, I certainly don't want her to have to remain on the diet unnecessarily. I am interested in advice about the timing of the
gluten intoduction and also a testing strategy. Thanks in advance for your help!
