Educational Lobbying            March 19th -- DDNC

Digestive Disease National Coalition (DDNC) 2001 Public Policy Forum
This annual event brings together digestive disease patients, physicians,
nurses and industry representatives for 2 days of educational programs and
legislative activities.

Goal:

1. To brief participants from around the country on federal health care
legislation and policy

2. To educate members of Congress on issues of concern to the digestive
disease community

Dates: Sunday,March 18 (optional) and Monday,March 19

To RSVP yourparticipation:

1. Make your own hotel reservations with the Washington Court Hotel if
needed. DDNC has reserved a block of rooms.

2. Complete the attached RSVP form and fax to the DDNC at 202-546-7105

3. There may be some financial support for patients to attend forum.

4:00 -- 6:00       Issues Briefing
  -- Presentations and discussion on digestive disease research,
     patient access to care issues, hepatitis, colorectal cancer and
     other DDNC priorities
  -- Dr Allen Speigel, Director of the National Institute of Diabetes
     and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) -- invited speaker
6:00 -- 7:30       Reception (also a time for people representing
     CD/DH to get together)

Monday, March 19 -- Make Your Voice Heard on Capitol Hill (on Capitol
                    Hill -- TBA)
8:00 -- 9:30     Continental Breakfast (no GF pastries.  Juices, fruit
     and coffee available)

Preparationfor Congressional Visits
10:00 -- 12:00   Morning Congressional Visits
  -- Teams consist of patients, physicians, and nurses will meet with
     their senators, representatives and congressional staff
12:30 -- 2:00    Capitol Hill Luncheon with Guest speaker (usually
     will include things acceptable to a GF diet)
  -- The following people have been invited to speak
        o  Senator Hilary Clinton (D-NY)
        o  Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI)
        o  Congressman Charlie Rangel (D-NY)
        o  Congresswoman Anne Northup (R-KY)
2:30 -- 4:00     Afternoon Congressional Visits
4:15             DebriefingSession

There may be some financial support available from DDNC for patients to
attend the forum.
