I got a call back from John Evangelista from quality control at Snyders of Hanover. He said that the supplier of their oat fiber tests for gluten and says they're gf, and Snyder's does their own random testing for gluten, and it's never come back positive.  This response was a voicemail message on my phone, so I didn't get to ask who the supplier is, and who knows, it's possible they could switch suppliers.

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the answer. If we were to test oats, given how slight the chance is that you'd hit upon a piece of wheat, the likelihood is you'd get a negative result for gluten. On the other hand, given the slight chance that we'd get wheat, it's probably safe to eat. But I'd be more comfortable if I knew the supplier was a dedicated gluten-free source. 

I think, as we see more brand name vendors jumping on the gluten-free bandwagon, we're going to have to deal with this more and more. It really makes me appreciate the gf companies we've been dealing with for years, that probably started out as mom and pop operations. Much of this boils down to trust. Even if the FDA finally gives a quantitative limit in order for someone to say it's gf, it's still going to be a matter of trust and personal decision.

.....I was checking on this yesterday because the brand Food Should Taste Good multigrain chips say the same thing, they contain oat fiber and are Gluten Free.

On their website they explain about the oat fiber and how they are certified gluten free by a national organization.

That's is good enough for me.  I will try them.
