Hi to the List,

I have just read a posting from Joel of NY, concerning the quality of
goods/services of Wegman's markets. I would like to post my response to the list.

I am sure that Joel does not have a financial interest in Wegmans, and has
had an excellent experience with this chain of markets. I am happy that he
has had a positive experience with this chain of stores

I am not writing to the list to start any controversy. I just feel that I
am writing to the list as a fellow celiac who just happened to have a negative
first experience at the store. I am sure that others have had more luck at
the Wegman's store than I have had, but we each have our own individual
experiences with a certain store/employee, etc. I work in with the public firsthand in
a customer-service related field(library sciences), and we are always trying
to get feedback from the public upon how to improve our services to the
public. We then work to implement these ideas. Retail actually isn't much different
from what I do on a day-to-day basis.

I called the 1-800-Wegmans store today and found the information I needed
from them. They will be mailing the information to me shortly. I would have
just hoped that the store would have had the gf listing/literature at hand for
me at the customer services desk to make my first shopping experience there go
more smoothly. I also wish that the workers at the customer services desk
would have firsthand knowledge of where to find the gf products in the store. The
gal who helped me out was very nice, and did her best to help me in the
store, but it was obvious that she wasn't given much training in terms of how to
find the color-coded GF products in the store.
Those issues lay with the management.

Instead of wasting time debating individual stores on this list, I think
the celiac community as a whole would be more productive if we worked together
as a group to improve the experiences in dining/cooking/shopping for all
celiacs. This will not work if we are at odds with one another. This diet is
confusing, and tough enough to navigate in and of itself. We are here to inform
each other of information to make the gf lifestyle a little more easy on all of
us.

   Thank you very much,
Amy Kravitz [log in to unmask]
