I just wanted to let folks know the Seattle Times/Post Intelligencer
Sunday newspaper ran a special section on celiac disease yesterday in
the Sunday rotos (the colored Pacific Northwest magazine section that
looks kind of like "Parade.")

Text of the articles is posted on the web. "Happy Thanksgiving -
Abundance Reconsidered: A traditional American Thanksgiving stuffing may
do more to you than make you sleepy." It's a fun article to read, with a
good explanation of celiac and how to cope, and there is also a recipe
for GF pumpkin pie. I don't know if the magazine will have other
articles that are not posted on the web (yet).

Here are the URLs:

If you have trouble getting to them, it may be that I can see them
because I am a registered user and a newspaper subscriber. I know that
registration on the web for me was free, but it's so long ago that I
can't recall if I fed them info on my newspaper subscription to get in,
or if it was a generic free registration. Someone else will have to let
us know if they have problems.

There also was an older article about Kaili's Kitchen
(www.wheatlessinseattle.com <http://www.wheatlessinseattle.com/>
Kaili has a GF restaurant in Edmonds, just north of Seattle. The
original article about Kaili in the Times/PI is at:

You will need to cut and past these two lines into your Web browser:

About the same time that that article came out, Sully's Living Without
magazine did an article that included her, too, about making GF wedding
cakes. I was glad to see the Times article, but a bit disappointed in
it, too. The guy who interviewed her kind of said he wasn't a "foodie,"
and basically gave her a good review, but just sounded like he wasn't
terribly interested in food. Seems to me that it would have been so much
more fun to read if he had cared a bit more, or if a celiac had been
included in a tasting group. But the most recent articles are much
better.
