Greetings....I have been lurking for awhile due to my belief that my 21 year
old daughter has some form of gluten intolerance.....as an infant we almost
lost her (below 9 pounds at 4 months of age) until I remembered that my
grandfather could never eat "light" bread, only home made cornbread, due to
an allergy. We cut out her wheat and she began to thrive immediately...you
must all know baby food is crammed full of wheat fillers.

She seemed to outgrow it as she grew older and began a normal diet. She is
now, however, at 21 is incredibly thin, has poor appetite, but primarily due
to the gastric disturbances, stomach cramps, she experiences so commonly when
she does eat....sometimes accompanied by diarhea sometimes not.

Every test she has had until now has been negative for everything...including
a bout with two psychologists, one food disorder specialist, both of whom
declare her NOT ANOREXIC.

Last Friday a new doctor (new because of health insurance changes) ,
immediately proclaimed once again she was anorexic...and had no type of
malabsorption syndrome....he declared this after less than five minutes of
talking to her, no exam, no tests....he was, however, adamant.

She was devastated.....then today that same doctor's office called to say her
blood tests showed a Vitamin B12 deficiency.....i have been reading about
this on line...seems malabsorption is almost always the problem....is this
common amongst folks with gluten intolerance.

She returns to this physician tomorrow, if i can get some feedback from you
who know, it may be helpful to her.

Thanks.

Sheri...a worried mom in Florida
