Hi everyone!
In his new book, Dr Green states "researchers have found increased levels of
zonulin in patients with celiac diseaes and [DH], even without obvious
atrophy in the intestine."
Am I interpreting this correctly to think zonulin can stay high even after
the villi have healed? Might this be an explanation of why some people
develop other food intolerances &/or have ongoing issues? Does any one know
if continuing elevated levels of zonulin are indicative of presence of
another auto-immune condition or is it a part of CD that may negate the
"cure" of the GF diet in some patients? [Not suggesting the diet is not
crucial - only wondering if for some people there is more to the CD puzzle
than simply going GF.]
Finally, does anyone know of labs now using blood tests to check zonulin
levels, especially in Canada?
Hope these questions are not confusing:-) Would really appreciate feedback
from some listers more up to date on the research than I am. I did use
google but couldn't find anything specific to these issues. Cheers, Aggi-Rose
