Hi list!

I had asked whether others besides myself noticed any connection between
multiple food and other sensitivities, taking allergy shots, being
gluten free, and developing other auto immune disorders. I received 22
thoughtful detailed replies, mostly from people with multiple allergies
and also with more than one auto-immune disorder. There were some who
felt that the gluten free diet lessened allergic symptoms, others who
felt no corelation.

Several mentioned severe reactions to allergy injections: swelling,
soreness, redness, itching and indicated a preference for homeopathic
remedies to clear up allergic symptoms (such as Clorazon). One person
who has Churg Straus Syndrome (vasculitis, like lupus) mentioned that
CSS listmates found "no relief from allergy shots": "perhaps their
allergic reaction is their auto-immune reaction and only prednisone gave
them relief."

Since almost no respondent really knew how long they had had gluten
intolerance or CD, it was unclear whether the auto-immune conditions
came first or followed.

One has a son with CD and with "vaccine-induced autism". She said: "I
think many of our current problems with auto-immune disorders stem from
current immunization practice."

Encouraged by this last response I have decided to suspend innoculations
and to seek an internist who can supervise the many seemingly unrelated
specialists who are trying to figure out how to help me feel better. A
cancer specialist (I have decided to seek advice on the subject from
every specialist I see) said it made sense to him that allergy shots
would stimulate the auto-immune system.

I consider this a very important question to raise. I will happily
summarize further messages on the subject.
