When I posted that my family may want to be at Lake Tahoe for Passover, and asked for your help, these are the responses I got. The trip to Tahoe is canceled. I am relieved to say. It's hard enough to do Passover far away from home, but to be in a resort environment on Spring Break, away from a major city, and have to do gluten-free, too....Didn't sound like fun. Thanks for the responses. Lin

1.There aren't a lot of GF choices at Lake Tahoe. Perhaps the casinos on the Nevada side accommodate. Nobody from our area has noted tha, howevert. The only place noted on the Bay Area GF map is Freshies in South Lake Tahoe city. We were there, and it is very good . GF Map: http://tinyurl.com/norcalgf

2. I had a terrible time with gf in Tahoe a couple of years ago. Actually had one restaurant refuse to serve me. We rented a house and cooked in all our meals. May have had a salad at a restaurant on the lake.

3. For the Passover part I can only suggest that you contact shuls near to Tahoe (which from a quick google they look like Reform) but there must be members who are actually kosher/orthodox who might be able to help and with any luck they'll also know people who happen to be celiac & be willing to shop for you while Pesach supplies are available. You fly in to Reno, I believe, where there is a chabad presence. Otherwise you will have to fill suitcases with food, I guess or be very sephardic vegetarian. Lots of challenges.

4. We love Tahoe. I'd re-post once you know which side of the lake you're staying. If you're in a house you can cook. Plenty of grocery stores. We like the west shore and there is a great health food store there w/ lot's of gf options.

5. If you do go to Tahoe some time, tell the relatives that about 5 doors over from the GF market is The Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant, which is extremely kid-friendly AND has a decent GF menu. Surely the toddlers need a potty stop at some point during the trip, why not Sacto? The store isn't far off of I-80 at all.
