I'd like to thank all members of the group that took the time to answer me
privately about my post the other day and urged me into getting to the
doctor ASAP. Taking your advice, I nagged my GYN into giving me the name
of a good GI person. They wouldn't, but did send me to a regional clinic
here. Turns out the "doctor" was a DO--first time I've gone to one of
those. Anyway, I called them at 10 and they got me in at 2:30 the same
day! That's unheard of around here--usually takes a few months to get in
to see a new doctor. I really liked him--he actually believes in food
allergies (GASP) and even mentioned that there is a condition called sprue
that could be a factor since I was allergic to so many foods. I almost
fell off the table.

Anyway, they did the 'ol digital tests, and sent me home with Hemocult
tests to do for 3 days. He's already talking sigmoidoscopy, and
colonoscopy maybe. I told him I had been diagnosed with diverticulitis in
the 80's because of bleeding, and he said that bleeding is very rare with
that condition. SO, I guess I got yet another wrong diagnosis. Who knows?
All I know is that here I go again with yet another string of doctors. I'm
a little more optimistic this time around, since I like this doctor, but I
know he's going to just send me on to another specialist eventually. I am
worried about the possibility of being anesthetized for the procedures.
I've had the sigmoidoscopy before, but not the other one. I am sensitive
to so many chemicals, I'm not sure how my body would react to major drugs.

I'm wondering if all of you went through this same stuff before being
diagnosed with celiac disease. I'm not really sure I have it, but right
now I need to check out the abnormal bleeding before doing anything else.

Once again, thanks for the nudge--
Bobbi
