Thank you to EVERYONE who has responded to my plea for help with my
2-year-old celiac son and six-month-old healthy daughter. In time
I will respond to each of you. (I still have many questions, so
brace yourselves!) Here are a few things that I have learned:

          - Celiacs must be stringent about adhering to a gluten-free diet.
          - Breastfeed, breastfeed, breastfeed! It may give some protection.
          - Nursing moms of celiacs or their siblings should also go gluten-
free; proteins do pass into the breast milk
          - Delay the introduction of solids for as long as possible (6 to 9
mos., unless the babe is "starving")
          - Go extra slow with the introduction of solids to a celiac sib
          - Do not introduce gluten until at least 12 mos. (some say 24)
          - Making your own food is cheaper, tastes better

I've been told that God never gives us any more of a challenge than
we can handle. Let me tell you that my hubby and I have certainly
been challenged to become the best parents we can. Evan is already
improving. Our efforts are more than worth it.

QUESTION: Can anyone refer me to high-calorie recipes? Evan must
          gain weight!

          ...Pam
