Hey I saw all the posts recently about SBR and looked on the St. John’s
search engine about the sauce to see if anyone posted about its soy content
(I can’t eat soy, get sick from it). Seeing nothing about soy in the St.
John’s posts I called them up just a few minutes ago to ask if they use soy
in their sauce. According to the lady I spoke with on the phone they *do*
use gluten in *some* of their sauces and on their production line and this
woman said the owner had told her if celiac people call inquiring whether
SBR was considered gf to tell them *it is not* considered gf because of
possible gluten line contamination. She said there are one or two salad
dressings they make that *might* be ok (gf) but even with those it is
possible they might contain gluten. Sounds like a pretty contaminated
production area to me.

Well at that point I didn’t even bother asking about whether they add soy or
not, I said ok, thank you, goodbye.

Are any celiacs using SBR sauce and *not* getting a gluten response from it?
I’m just wondering now. I’m not ordering the stuff now but I have seen about
30 posts on St. John’s all in the affirmative that the stuff is gf and then
I have this phone conversation this morning and now I’m thinking “What? Huh?
Is it or isn’t it?”

Check your responses after you eat SBR I suggest, if you start developing
problems it is possible you are getting some contamination indirectly from
it.

Don’t shoot me; I’m just relaying what she told me this morning. My
apologies.
