First of all, thank you very, very much for taking the time to write.  I received sooo many emails, that I cannot possibly answer them all individually.  However, know that I read each one with gratitude, whether you were offering advice, suggestions or merely support.

To the very few who seemed a little defensive thinking that I was just searching for another easy-answer diet to go on, let me assure you, that is not the case.  Perhaps I could've worded it better, but I wasn't asking if going gluten-free would make me skinny, so much as I was asking if eating gluten was preventing me from losing weight through normal healthful means.

The suggestions I received varied greatly, and here is a summary:

-  Have my hormone levels tested
-  see a registered dietician
-  be tested for food allergies
-  pursue thyroid issue (do antibody test)
-  try Paleo diet
-  DHEA test (don't yet know what that is)
-  pursue possiblility that I actually do have celiac  (see theglutensyndome.net)
-  possibly hashimoto's thyroiditis
-  check vitamin levels, esp. D and K (I do take 3000 iu of D3 each day)
-  cut out carbs
-  casein intolorance
-  stress
-  bacterial overgrowth

Basically, I have some things to think about and research further to hopefully find some answers.  I truly think that people "know" their own bodies, and I just feel something is going on with mine.  In any case, my next step is to see my GYN, and see what he has to say.  I will probably do the ALCAT testing as well.  For those of you who asked, my thyroid tests were:
TSH, 3rd GENERATION .................  2.82

T4, FREE........................................ 1.1

T3, FREE ........................................ 329

T3, UPTAKE ................................... 30

Also, someone mentioned my red blood cell count, which was 4.28.

I am not on any medication, I never use artificial sweeteners, but I do drink coffee.

Thank you, again...........  Dina
