I received many messages in reply to my request for information as to what
might be a problem in Yami brand yogurt. My aunt had sent the list of
contents to me after she had a painful reaction to it.

While her letter to me was in transit, she had been referred to a gastro
specialist. She took her list of ingredients to this physician and asked him
what could have caused the reaction. Mind you, she's in her 70's and has not
been diagnosed with CD (I have) but has had many gut problems for some years.
He had no desire to look at the list in her hand. He then told her he felt
the risk of bleeding was such that he felt a small bowel biopsy was uncalled
for. The odd thing about this is within a day or so she had the large bowel
scoped by another specialist and he took biopsy samples without anyone
worrying about "bleeding".

So, when I called her and found out all of this she was mighty pleased to
hear that the general feeling on this list was (1) most likely the modified
food starch was the problem (could be corn, could be wheat - unknown unless
you call the producer), (2) the natural flavors could also present a hiding
place for gluten. She is mystified why a dr. doesn't know all of this stuff.
I say it is another example of how knowledgable and caring this list is.

Once again I thank those of you who responded to my query. It really helps
in a pinch to get such a quick reply.
