Hallo again,
One of listmates sent me very valuable information re vinegar.
I quote it entirely.

>Distilled vinegar is a misnomer. vinegar is mix and heated not
>distilled.chech with and of the processors

I checked technology scheme and asked one of the
manufacturers. Indeed there is no distillation stage in vinegar
production. The last stage is filtration which only removes
mechanical particles. Dissolved particles go through the filters
easily.

In fact in Poland vinegar produced from alcohol (spirit) has never
been called "distilled vinegar" but "spirit vinegar" (as opposed to
"wine vinegar" - not distilled either).
I was convinced (reading previous posts) that spirit vinegar was
called in US distilled vinegar. Were I wrong ? If that was the case -
sorry for causing confusion.
