7.) Druids 736 10th ave. 212-307-6419
8.) Sushi Restaurants --various (dont' have artificial crab leg or eel)
9.) TGI Fridays talk to a manager
10.) Josie's 300 Amsterdam Ave 212-769-1212
11.) Rose of Bombay (no address info given)
12.) Indian restaurant on 6th Street in the east village between 2nd and 1st
Ave.
13.) Souen is a great organic restaurant that also has fish and sushi.
Delicious food. They are well informed about hidden wheat. That's 13th
Street between University and 5th Ave.
14.) Tea and Sympathy is a British style restaurant in the West Village on
Greenwich Street. You can always get a sardine salad.
15.) Josie's is on 74th and Amsterdam. They're another organic place. they
serve fish, chicken as well and they are aware of gluten. although they have
screwed up before.
16.) 7A is a crowded bar/restaurant on 7th and Ave. A. They have a decent
salmon and can cook a burger to order. 17.) Lucien - 1st St and 1st Ave -
good filet mignon
18.) M&R - Elizabeth between Houston and Rince. Good roast chicken with
huge sides of veggies
19.) Lemongrass Grill on 7th Ave. South where she has Pad Thai.
20.) Monte's on Sullivan or Thompson St. One of our favorite old village
hangouts
21.) Gourmet Garage supermarket on 6th Ave. and 8th St. as well as a health
food store one block north of there. My two favorite (i.e., good value for
the dollar) default places:
22.) Le Zie at 20th and 7th has a great menu (Italian via Venice), lots of
wonderful things that we can eat. Fish is a strong suit.
23.) Titou on West Fourth at Charles (East side of the street) is good
bistro food. Nice (large) salade nicoise on the menu that I eat allthe time.
Their meat is better than their fish. Chicken is excellent, and I am not a
big fan of chicken.
My last suggestion is one that gets pricey, because sushi is never a bargain
but –
24.) Miyagi on 13th street between 7th and Greenwich has good sushi and
gluten-free tamari on-hand. They know me well and can give you good,
gluten-free (the big three: no miso, no soy sauce, no imitation crab) things
to eat. Try the monk fish liver -- the sauce that comes with it has gluten,
but they use something else for me. Delicious. Think Japanese foie gras.it
Gus's place is expensive.
i live in Manhattan and still get gluten poisoning every so often. diners
are a good idea, bland as they are. They're everywhere.
The Rose of Bombay has a gluten free menu –

I live and work in Brooklyn Heights, just across the river from Wall Street.
I feel very fortunate to be situated here. We have a good health food
store on Remsen Street (Perelandra) and a wide variety of ethnic
restaurants, particularly on Montague Street. I can't say that any of them
are notably familiar with CD, but OTOH, I don't grill them to the nth degree
about contamination either. The Indian, Vietnamese, and Thai restaurants
are probably
the safest bets. I eat at all of them several times a month. I also love
the souvlaki platter at the Greek restaurant (minus the pita bread), which
makes great takeout. The Smith Street corridor is also nearby and is loaded
with yetmore restaurants, slightly more upscale and heavily biased toward
French cuisine, but I haven't eaten there as often since I started the diet
in April.

Let me know if you have any particular interests/cravings and I'll be happy
to send you the names and addresses. If anyone else responds with Brooklyn
suggestions, I'd also love to hear them!

Metro Fish on 36th Street, between 5th and 6th can offer a clean fish meal,
delicious and friendly.

Shun Lee, 45 West 65th Street, near Central Park West, can make a wonderful
steamed chicken with vegetables, just ask for a clean wok.
The white sauce is g-f.
