Hello.

I would first like to thank everyone who replied, 14 in total. My
question was regarding a connection between CD and Rheumatoid
Arthritis, and possibly liver damage. As always, the helpful
information and good wishes cheered me up.

1 person mentioned having both CD and RA, but said they were not
connected, and needed both the GF diet and medication.

1 person has CD, RA and liver damage like me, and replied that a
personal trainer and the GF diet has helped her a lot, if not
completely.

1 person thought that incidents of RA may be related to stress. This
is my time for uni exams, and I believe my CD only became apparent
when it did because of much stress. Fortuneately for this person, the
RA left when the stress did, and has only minor occurences now.

1 person related some medical links regarding diet and arthritis. I
am hesitant to restrict my own diet further, but will forward these
links to anyone interested.

Another person mentioned that black cherry juice in certain forms has
been known to help arthritis (quoted by doctors on the internet).

4 people mentioned that the GF diet helped ease the arthritis, and
medications were needed only occasionally.

Others though have been less lucky, with 2 replies that the GF diet
had not helped their arthritis at all.

2 members mentioned that ingesting gluten will cause liver damage for
Celiacs, but that the GF diet will allow the liver to repair itself.

It was also mentioned that some meds for RA (NSAID's) are known to
cause liver damage.

Obviously my GF diet needs some fine tuning.

All replies indicated that they had been diagnosed with arthritis
before 40 (young).

As for my scheduled test to see if my RA is related CD, it is just an
endoscopy, and I'm not sure how they determine the result. I'm just
happy if they can. My last fear is that eating gluten to prepare for
this test will re-activate RA. I'll let you all know.

Thankyou again, and good luck to everyone.

Kim Morris,
Sydney, Australia.
