Dear Graeme and the list,

Please note that neither of these studies was
"double-blind" - a requirement for valid results.

Don't take my word for it - go check in any text book on
medical testing.

Remember that the vast majority of coeliacs in UK and
Ireland eat this type of CA wheat starch product without
problems.  This is 10's of thousands.  There are of course
people who do have problems with CA starch but they are a
tiny minority. They are often allergic to wheat.
