Free Gluten-Free Books Available During National Autism Awareness Month
(April 2004)

In an effort to assist the reported 1.5 million Americans with autism,
York Nutritional Laboratories is helping raise awareness of the condition
during April, which is National Autism Awareness Month.

According to John Kernohan, Director of York Nutritional
Laboratories, “For over 12 years I have had the opportunity to work with
many families who have been effected by autism. During this time I have
read many books and publications designed to assist these families in
overcoming the challenges they face on a daily basis. Some of the most
practical of these have been the dietary intervention books published by
Carol Fenster, Ph.D. and Savory Palate Press.”

Gluten intolerance has long been known to complicate conditions associated
with autism. York Nutritional Laboratories will provide a complimentary
copy of either “Gluten-Free Friends: An Activity Book For Kids” or “Gluten-
Free 101” with every one of their at-home (finger-stick) celiac tests
(known as the cdSCAN) ordered during National Autism Awareness Month.

Additionally, York Nutritional Laboratories will include a free copy of
both these books with every at-home (finger-stick) foodSCAN IgG ELISA Food
Intolerance Test ordered during April 2004.

BACKGROUND NOTES:

* According to recent research, autism affects an estimated 1.5 million
Americans and 50 new cases in children are diagnosed daily.

* For over 20 years York Nutritional Laboratories (YNL) has been a leading
pioneer in the arena of food allergy testing and has carried out tens of
thousands of tests for patients throughout the world. YNL came to
international attention with its development of the foodSCAN; a simple at-
home kit providing a convenient method to test for IgG-mediated food
allergy. A tiny "pin-prick" sample of blood is taken by using this unique
kit, which is then sent to the laboratory for analysis. The established
Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) technique is used to identify an
individual's IgG antibody reactions against 113 different, and commonly
eaten, foods (including gluten). YNL also provides the cdSCAN IgA Tissue
Transglutaminase (tTG) Autoantibody Assay: another simple at-home kit
designed for the screening of Celiac Disease.

* Visit with York Nutritional Laboratories at the Defeat Autism Now!
(DAN!) Conference, being held April 16-19, 2004 in Washington DC.
