Many thanks to all of your responses! As it turned out my local health food store had gotten in for the first time a couple of Kinnikinnick brownie cakes for me to take in a cooler. When I arrived I decorated and layered them with cool whip and blueberries and candles. Wa La=Birthday cake!

Here are the suggestions I received from this great group.

Whole Foods Markets have a fantastic flourless chocolate cake. They have a Santa Monica location at 2201 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica 90403

Baskin Robbins will make an ice cream cake for you there for $20.

You may want to try the IKEA furniture store. They have three or four GF
cakes available that taste very good. The brand is Almondy and they have
chocolate and almond flavors available.

I also found some wonderful restaurants in the area.

Cafe Brazil

Z Teja in South Coast Plaza Mall Costa Mesa has GF menu

Had a great time in old SC!
Thanks again for your suggestions.
