I have read with interest the current references to New Zealands food
labeling laws. England and Australia also have such laws. I am still
awaiting a response from CSA headquarters as to how to proceed with
this area in the US. I spoke with a past president at our last meeting,
reiterating my desire to participate in this, stating I had put this
on my evaluatiuon sheet from the San Francisco conference and was surprised
I had not been contacted. I know many others share this interest. When I
finally do get some current info, I will share it with the list.
        From listening to the FDA rep. at the conference, one came away with
the feeling that nothing had been done to get gluten labeling. After speaking
with a past president of CSA, I was told that this is not the case, but
they have been trying for about 10 years. I cannot be more specific as I've
not seen the files. I know it will be a long process, but would love to
know what is currently being done, if anything!        Lynn
