I was diagnosed severely hyperthyroid 3 weeks ago (my TSH level was 115
having been 2.9 six months previously) and have been on thyroxine (now
100mg) since. I have learnt a lot about the condition from the
excellent websites available but have three particular questions:

Firstly have other coelics developed Hashimoto's thyroiditis very
rapidly (I was well until a month ago) and did this rapid onset affect
the time it took to get the thyroxine levels correct?

Secondly, I was diagnosed coeliac two years ago (almost asymptomatic)
and therefore assumed (and hoped) I had gone gluten-free in time to
avoid "complications". Is there any clinical evidence that would
suggest that, now I have the thyroiditis, I am now more at risk from
other autoimmune disorders than as a "simple" coeliac?

Thirdly, I have recently had tender glands and flitting pains under my
arms and down my back and chest that feel like my immune system
protesting but which neither I nor my GP have been able to link to the
thyroiditis. Has anyone have experience of this or any suggestions as
to what be this might be caused by? It doesn't really fit the usual
fibromylagia symptons of joint pain or muscle weakness.

Incidently one doctor here in used the term Multi-function Autoimmune
Disorder to describe having two or more auto-immune diseases and I
would be interested to know if this is now the accepted term both here
in the UK and elsewhere.
