hi everyone

im sorry but i am SOOO confused by this whole discussion about oats
being gluten-free or not...it has been my understanding from the outset
of having to avoid gluten that oats contain gluten. period. on their own
and not by 'contamination'....? im totally stumped..in every book and
article i have read about gluten intolerance oats is on the list of
totally forbidden foods along with wheat-barley-rye-spelt and kamut...i
dont get this at all... why are there no recipes in ANY gluten-free
cookbooks with oats? all these books including hagman and fenster say
oats are a NO-NO...is someone 'making' oats gluten-free..removing the
gluten? why then is there no gluten-free wheat or barley? anyway..i was
just wondering if anyone had the same thoughts as myself on this or if
im just missing something here....i dont even expect any responses but
any are welcome..im feeling kinda DUH.... thanks donna in ny
