Dear Listmates:
Recently I posted an inquiry about bacterial overgrowth.  Included in the many replies I received about the subject (which I summarized last week) was the issue of verification of information.  Some posters had replied to me with chemical technicalities which I am in no way equipped to verify, and I was given the impression by other responders that it was wrong of me to pass on replies that I had not verified.  

Don't we all have to deal with the fact that much information about the management of CD is actually mis-information?  Aren't we always on the alert for "facts" that do not pertain to our individual cases?  

For example, it seems to me, now that I analyse my recent nutritional history, that my case of bacterial overgrowth was probably brought on (or at least hastened) by my following dietary guidelines given me by a highly respected source in the management of CD.  

Instead of pointing fingers and blaming one another for incomplete knowledge and misleading information, can't we agree on the essentials:  
1. that this disease and its management are immensely complex; 
2. that not all that much is known for sure about proteins and sugars, enzymes and all that stuff --one MD I know calls it "the cutting edge of ignorance." 
3. that we need all the support and encouragement we can get to manage our individual chemistries on a practical, day-to-day level, with or without theoretical or scientific backgrounds.
4. that this listserve is an invaluable source of both support and encouragement.
