My family doctor does not think that I have Celiac because my blood test didn't show it. He is not considering any of my health problems to be caused by that since the blood test didn't show anything. I don't get the impression that he knows much about this category of health problems. With a long history of undiagnosed Celiac it has caused a lot of damage such as osteoporosis and fibromyalga and neuropathy and I don't know what else except very bad digestion problems which have gotten better since I am gluten free now. In this small area I have not found any doctors who are interested or wanting to take senior patients with Medicare coverage or Celiac problems. I went to a bone specialist with a lot of pain and he took x-rays and said that I had very bad osteoporosis. He said he wanted me on Fosamax and to tell my family doctor to put me on it. I saw on the Listserve that lots of people were suing the Fosamax company because of jawbone deterioration from taking that medicine and I saw that Tri-Boron might be good to take. I asked if I could take that instead and he said that was not anything that was in his field of medicine and dismissed me by telling me to do whatever my family doctor said. My family doctor had said to take 1,000 mg of calcium a day. I bought some Boron which has calcium, magnesium and vitamin D in it at the Vitamin Shop but I am not sure how much or often to take it and whether I should still take the other calcium, magnesium and vitamin D pills I had been taking. I could figure it on the U.S. Recommended Daily Allowances but I need to know how much of these vitamins are needed by people with Celiac so I can figure out what dosage of what to take. When I went to the emergency room with a very bad celiac attack they told me I was very low in magnesium and gave me some in an IV, but then my doctor tested me and it was alright. I also would like to know if anyone knows the benefits or problems of taking Whey Protein Isolate which also has magnesium. I am on a beta blocker for a small heart arrythmia and am concerned about getting too much. A friend gave me some to try and said it was very good for you.

I am so glad to be on Listserve because I learn so much from all of you. You all are very kind and wonderful people and if you can advise me I thank you so much.

Barbara
