Hello All,

This subject was aired a week or two ago, but maybe the situation wasn't made
completely clear by those of us in the UK.  The above statement - taken just as
it is - is not the case.  The UK Coeliac Society considers wheat starch as safe
for coeliacs only on one condition - namely that it is specially manufactured
and - to quote their handbook, ...."complies with the International Gluten-free
Standard (Codex Alimentarius) and can safely be included in a gluten-free diet."
I think also it would be mandatory that any wheat starch complying with this
standard would have to be declared so on the packaging.
