Thanks to all for the very concerned and helpful replies. What I got from
most of the replies is that acid reflux, chemical sensitivies and
strain/toxification on the liver can be kindof normal byproducts of being
celiac. My situation seems a bit more unique regarding the high bilirubin
and vocal chord dysfunction. Sadly, the vocal chord dysfunction is not only
caused by and exacerbated by the reflux, it is also exacerbated by the
chemical sensitivities creating further irritation.

No one responded directly about vocal chord dysfunction, although a couple
folks described having symptoms of it themselves.

Aloe vera gel was suggested to help coat the stomach, reduce acid and
support the gastro tract. Someone else suggested taking DGL, which is an
extract from licorice.
Also to eat a few dried organic unsulphured
apricots, especially at night, because they produce an alkaline response in
the stomach, thus neutralizing stomach acids. A book was suggested called
Why STOMACH ACID IS GOOD FOR YOU: NATURAL RELIEF FROM HEARTBURN,
INDIGESTION, REFLUX & GERD by Dr. Jonathan Wright. Someone suggested looking
into surgery for Hiatal Hernia and/or a weak valve at the top of the
stomach, called the cardiac valve. Someone suggested seeing Dr. Joe Murray,
gastroenterologist of the Minnesota Mayo Clinic.

Liver detox and liver support rememdies were also suggested including colon
therapy, herbal remedies and milk thistle, N-acetyl cystein and Taurine.
I've had difficulty with most but did find a well-tolerated homeopathic
liver support made by King Bio that is GF. There is also another remedy
suggested called Ultra Clear Sustain to help healleaky gut--in addition to
the standard supplements
of digestive enzymes, probiotics and L-glutamine.
Glutathione supplemenets were also suggested for liver support. Someone
suggested the book 'Liver Cleansing Diet' by Dr. Sandra Cabot. Someone
suggested the high bilirubine may be a problem with the biliary tracts that
remain in the liver even when a gall bladder is removed.

Someone suggested the following website for info www.sensiblehealth.com

For people with chemical sensitivities, the following supplements/remedies
and brands were suggested:
Adrenals (bovine) – Solaray
Candex
Carlson Cod Liver Oil – unflavored
Borage Oil – Health from the Sun

Pam
